Who are The Sweet Cyclists?

The Sweet Cyclists are Bhavana and Shayan, partners in life and co-creators of a California-based blog focused on unbiased, in depth reviews and practical guides. They started the site after getting frustrated with the lack of useful product reviews and wanted a way for them and others to have credible information on what gear to buy for any trip to tackle. From being avid travelers all over the world and cycling enthusiasts they know what it takes to have solid gear. In today's society many platforms are formed on biased reviews which can lead to bad purchases or simply not the right product. They specialize in sharing their opinions and thoughts on many different brands and products from apparel to gear. Helping people make an informed decision, which is a much needed source for all today. In their FAQ they note that they do not do sponsored content, take payment for reviews, or use affiliate links, which help keep their coverage independent. This is why we were excited to have their honest review of our apparel to learn how we can improve to make a better ride for you.

What they tested

The Sweet Cyclists graciously took the time to review two of our favorite women's products. Our Women's Cat Outline Empress Jersey and All Day shorts.

1. Women's Cat Outline Empress Jersey

The Women's Cat Outline Empress Jersey began with our designer's cat, Goliath. At Aero Tech Designs we always want something technical that also shows personality. The black and white line art is playful without shouting, so it pairs with any shorts and still looks clean. We pattern-matched the print across the zipper and pockets, then sublimated it so it stays crisp after washing. The Empress fit is streamlined without feeling tight, and the lightweight fabric breathes well for sunny rides. As The Sweet Cyclists noted, "In a sea of solid colors, Aero Tech Designs stands out in its fun print offerings".

Key Features:

    • AeroCOOL performance fabric with UPF 50+ for breathable, sun-smart comfort
    • Empress women's fit with extended sizes for streamlined, easy feel
    • Ride-ready details including pattern-matched print, full-separating YKK zipper, three rear pockets, and a 3M reflective tab

Two side pockets to secure your phone and ride essentials, while soft silicone grippers and waistband keep the fit steady. Critiques and Fit Notes to Help Shoppers

Jersey length can feel a bit long: The 5'5" rider with an average-length torso felt the jersey to be about 2 inches too long which led to mid-ride tugging.

What we're improving: We're reviewing torso length and hem behavior on Empress across sizes, and evaluating minor length adjustments on future runs.

Fit tips: Measure your preferred jersey length from shoulder to hem on a jersey you like, then compare to our garment length size chart. If you sit between sizes and prefer a shorter look, choose the size that matches your chest but brings the garment length closer to your target. High-rise shorts help manage extra length, and a small half-zip on climbs can keep the front from riding up.

Sleeve band felt snug: For more muscular or fatty arms the sleeve can feel a bit tight on upper arms.

What we're improving: We're testing bands with a touch more stretch and rechecking sleeve opening specs across sizes.

Fit tips: Measure your relaxed bicep at the fullest point and use that number alongside your chest when choosing a size. If your bicep is near the top of the size range, choose the larger size for sleeve comfort.

Jersey back pockets were a touch short for a 6-inch phone: An iPhone or larger device can be seen peaking out of the rear pockets on their test ride.

What we're improving: We're reviewing pocket depth and opening reinforcement to better secure taller phones.

Fit tips: Stash phones in the shorts pockets for a more secure carry. If you prefer rear pockets, place the phone in the center pocket in landscape position.

Shorts waistband felt a little bulky: A wide elastic waistband may result in a less smooth finish.

What we're improving: We're assessing elastic profile and construction for a smoother feel while keeping hold and durability.

Fit tips: Set the waistband at the natural waist while seated on the bike, then stand and check for pressure points. If you're between sizes and sensitive at the waist, size up and confirm the leg still stays put, or consider a bib option if you prefer no waistband pressure.

Our Take

Their final take on our apparel brought more than a smile to our faces. Aero Tech Designs is a brand made for everyone and for every body. Being a size inclusive brand we want to attract people to simply enjoy the ride. Not every rider is a pro racer so that is why we believe making a product that lasts but also affordable is all the difference. Compared to bigger brands we know we can compete with them, seeing that we were graded well shows we can still keep up with the pack. We hope that this review will encourage those to put their foot on the pedal and push themselves to see new sights and reach new goals with Aero Tech Designs.
